Hi everyone! Sorry for the month long hiatus but TRUST it was a much needed mental vacation. This is going to be a longer blog post than most so just an FYI before you continue reading. Everyone goes through different phases in their life and at 29 going on 30 I was going through what I called my “29 depression”. Now, some might say that it’s no big deal and others would agree that their 30’s are the best times of their lives. However, for me, turning 3-0 was almost dreadful.

For the first time since I started working at 16, I got laid off and was officially on “funemployment” when I turned 30. That alone was hard for me to accept. No independent woman wants to say that they’re “in between jobs” at 30. Also, I was dealing with the usual expectations that society puts on us that we had to be married with kids and owned a house by the time we’re at a certain age. I am nowhere near that. The funny thing is that I’m not even sure I’m ready or want all of that right now. But it still put me in a funk. I was like… should I be married already? I’m turning 30, I need to start making babies and OMGAH why don’t I own my own house yet. Well. It took me a few weeks to adjust and get my head right but umm hello. I don’t want to be married yet and I’m for sure as hell am not ready for a baby. I’m not even sure if I’m ready to have a dog. So why did I put all this pressure on myself and my poor boyfriend that I had to be at this stage in life that isn’t meant for me yet. We’re exactly where we’re supposed to be in life and I needed to remember that.

I had a month-long celebration that was a FUCK YOU to my thirties and I totally YOLO CHOLO’d it up like I was 21 again. I am truly blessed with the best girlfriends and even better boyfriend to put up with me and accept me as I am. I took a break from outfit photos and blogger events because I needed time to be with the people that have been by me since the beginning and live it up with them. I trained and successfully finished my first half marathon (13.1 freaking miles!) and will be starting school and training for a new career that I will be starting in November. I got published in People StyleWatch magazine and even modeled for VietTV. I’m making myself and my mama proud! Needless to say, everyone was right. Being 30 is no big deal and I have a feeling this will be the best years of my life. But that’s on me and what I accomplish and not based on how old I am.

So here are 30 things I’ve learned or realized about life at 30:

1. Life goes on, whether you’re ready or not. So either you embrace it and enjoy what life has to offer or you sit back, gripe and miss out major life changing opportunities.
2. Laugh a lot, sing a lot, dance a lot and for sure drink a lot. Why the hell not? Life is a celebration. If you work hard you should damn well play hard.
3. You really can’t go wrong with a shot of tequila – ever. It’s delicious.

4. Travel as often as possible. Life outside our backyard can be pretty amazing.
5. Love the life you have and stop wanting other things that you think you want.
6. Let go of the “way things are supposed to be in our heads” because that fucks with your happiness more than the actual things that are happening.
7. Run a half marathon. It really is an amazing experience and you feel so accomplished if and when you cross that finish line.

8. Talk less, listen more. Self-explanatory.
9. Be a better friend, girlfriend, sister, daughter. Be a better version of yourself every day.
10. The older I get, the more I realize how much I need alone time. To re-evaluate and be with my own thoughts. Find time for yourself and don’t lose yourself in this fast-paced life we live.
11. Social Media. My life. As much as I have to thank social media for my blogging career, I have to say this. Don’t let social media take over your life. Living your life in squares isn’t living at all. Remember to put your phone down sometimes and enjoy the moment instead of trying to capture it. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying don’t take photos. ALWAYS take photos. Just remember when you’re done. Enjoy the people and that moment.
12. Thank people. Appreciate them and don’t take anyone for granted. I’ve been through a ton of ups and downs in the last couple months and if I didn’t have a strong network of good people around me, I don’t know if I would’ve come out unscathed.
13. Little things count. A smile, a random thank you, post it notes around the house. Let people know you love them and are thinking about them.
14. As I’m getting older, I have to remember so is my mama and grandma. They’re not getting any younger either and I need to call more and say “I love you” more.
15. Take risks. Big or small, we all need to take risks in order to get to that next step in life. Being stagnant is the worse place to be.
16. A quote that needs to be shared: “We must always welcome the end of all things. For sometimes, knowing nothing lasts forever is the only way we can learn to fall in love with all the moments and all the people that are meant to take our breath away.” R.M. DRAKE
17. Love. Unexplainable. What I know about it thus far. It’s when you’re with someone that makes you more mad than you ever thought you could be, happier than you’ve ever been, drives you crazier than nails on a chalkboard but someone you can’t ever stand to be without. It’s when you miss someone every second of everyday even though you know you’re gonna see them like in 6 minutes. Love is when every little thing counts. Love is when nothing else matters unless they’re happy. I don’t know what to tell you about love but I know what I found is nothing I’ve ever felt before. It’s the first time I just don’t know but I know I can’t be without it.

18. Blogging. The most fun I’ve ever had taking photos, learning about social media and hyperlinks and meeting such talented women, photographers and designers. So grateful for the opportunities that have come from starting Love Fashion | Live Life
19. Don’t sell yourself short. EVER. Work hard, be true to yourself and fuck what everyone else thinks. Worrying about what others think of you isn’t going to help you get that raise or help you get what you want.
20. Everyone has bad days. Then after that everyone has fucking terrible I want to kill myself days. When you have those days, call your girlfriend or best guy friend. Cry about it, vent about it, get dolled up, take some really cute pictures and take some shots. Trust me. It works.
21. This is forever true. The bad news: Nothing lasts forever. The good news: Nothing lasts forever.
22. Shoes. A good pair will always make your feet look uber sexy. A good pair will give you supermodel legs. A good pair will make you smile on bad days. Invest in good shoes.

23. Good friends. Quality over Quantity. Filter your “friends” and stop hanging out with those negative and secretly competitive bitches. It’s definitely killing your vibe and slowly sucking your life away.

24. Dress up. As much as possible and that means in the bedroom too. “Look good, feel good” has always been my mantra and it’s true. Be the best version of yourself and take care of yourself. Nothing kills a woman’s confidence more than her own insecurities.
25. Smile. Just smile. I would rather have smile wrinkles as I get older than ugly frown lines. I can still say “Fuck you bitch” with a smile on my face. Lol, just smile. You look better doing it.
26. I worry more about skincare now and using sunblock when I’m out. Take care of your skin or else you’ll regret it when you’re 35 and you look 67. Drink lots of agua and use lotion all over.
27. Find what makes you happy. Whether that’s a stroll on the beach, shopping til you drop, snuggling up to a good book or happy hour with your friends. We all need to find that thing that just makes our heart smile. Life isn’t always easy but knowing what makes us happy helps out a lot.
28. Things I’ve had to learn to accept: I can’t change anyone and I can’t always have control. I realized that I get anxiety when I don’t have control over my situation or circumstances. It drives me crazy when I can’t find out every detail about everything. Things will always come up and nothing is ever set in stone. Learn to be flexible.
29. Exercise and try to eat healthy when possible. Even if it’s just a little bit. You’re the only one that is responsible for your own health. You’re getting older, your body can’t take what it used to. Eat well. Exercise and get lots of sleep.
30. Lastly. Life really is about the journey, not the destination. Running the half marathon made me realize that even more. It wasn’t just about crossing that finish line. It was everything I did leading up to the day of the race. It was about eating right, training daily and constantly prepping my body for such an intense run. Wherever you are, be all there.

I know it’s been a much longer post than usual so thank you to everyone that read all of it lol. It feels great to be able to be honest, vent and share a piece of my life with you. With allllll of that being said, you’ll start seeing outfit posts again on a regular basis and I have a few new things up my sleeves. Stay tuned!
